Eviction - what you need to know

If you are at risk of eviction

We only apply to the court to end a tenancy when every other option has been tried and has not worked. Eviction is always a last resort. If you have received a warning or think you may be at risk, please contact your local housing office  straight away so we can help.

Why eviction may happen

We may apply to the court to end your tenancy if:

  • you have not paid your rent
  • someone living in or visiting your home has behaved in an antisocial way

If either of these apply to you, please speak to your local housing office as soon as possible. You can also contact your local social work office for support.

Paying what you owe

If you are able to clear your rent arrears before the eviction takes place, you must tell the court team before making the payment. This may help stop the action going ahead.

If you can pay your outstanding rent before the eviction you must let the court team know before making payment.
