View building warrant applications

Search and view building warrant applications online

You can search and view details of building warrant applications using our online Building Standards Register. This service is free and lets you quickly check basic information about building warrants and enforcement notices linked to a property or project.

It is useful if you are a homeowner, buyer, seller or contractor who wants to check whether a building warrant exists or look up application details.

What you can search for

You can search the register using:

  • a building warrant application number
  • a site or property address
  • the applicant’s name
  • a date or range of dates

The register also includes Enforcement Notices, where these apply.

What information you can see

The online search shows summary details of applications, such as:

  • application reference number
  • address or location of the work
  • type of work applied for
  • application status and key dates

Please note that you cannot view plans, drawings or supporting documents through this service.

Time period covered

The register includes building warrant applications submitted from 2005 onwards. Older applications are not available online.

If you need copies of plans, completion certificates or other documents, you will need to make a separate request. Charges may apply.
