South Lanarkshire Justice Throughcare Team
Supporting people returning to the community after custody
We support people leaving prison to settle safely back into South Lanarkshire’s communities. If you or someone you know is returning from custody, we can help with planning for release, finding support and staying connected with family and services.
Our team works with people from the start of their sentence, throughout their time in custody and after they return home. The aim is simple: to help people make a positive fresh start and to keep our communities safe.
What we do
We work with you while you are in prison to plan for your release. This can include:
- preparing for housing, benefits and healthcare
- supporting you to rebuild family relationships
- helping you link with community services
- offering guidance and interventions to reduce the risk of reoffending
When you return to the community, we continue to support you with the practical steps you need to settle back into daily life.
Who can use this service
You can get help from the Justice Throughcare Team if:
- you are serving a prison sentence
- you are due for release and live in South Lanarkshire
