Uploading files to online forms
Some of our online forms ask you to upload documents. Following the steps below will help make sure your files upload correctly and your form is processed without delays.
Accepted file types
You can upload the following formats:
- PDF (.pdf)
- JPG (.jpg, .jpeg)
- PNG (.png)
- HEIC (.heic)
When to use each type
PDF files are best for:
- multi‑page documents (tenancy agreements, decision letters)
- scanned letters or official paperwork
JPG or PNG files are best for:
- photos of documents taken on a phone or tablet
- screenshots of emails or webpages
- ID cards, bills and single pages
Most phones save photos as JPG or PNG. Most scanners save documents as PDF.
Tips for a successful upload
- Keep each file below the maximum size shown on the form.
- Avoid photographing your screen — take a screenshot instead.
- Make sure the text in your document is clear and not blurry.
- Only upload the pages you need.
- Do not upload password‑protected files — we cannot open them.
If your images are too large
Large image files may cause the form to fail. You can reduce their size by converting them to PDF.
Use Adobe’s free tool: Convert to PDF (opens in new tab).
To convert an image:
- Click Select a File and choose your image (or drag and drop it).
- Adobe will convert it automatically.
- Download the new PDF and upload it to your form.
Compressing a large PDF
If your PDF is still too large, you can compress it using Adobe’s free Compress PDF tool (opens in new tab). You may need to create a free Adobe account.
To compress a PDF:
- Select your file (or drag and drop).
- Choose Medium compression and select Compress.
- Download the new, smaller PDF and upload it to your form.
