Working together with Trade Unions to support our workforce

South Lanarkshire Council recognises the importance the role of our Trades Unions at both a national and local level. We are committed to holding regular consultations to ensure effective joint action to improve services.

The council and Trade Unions have a Partnership Working Agreement in place which sets out our commitment to work together for the benefit of the council and our workforce. This way of working together is based on four common principles of:

  • common goals
  • understanding
  • honesty
  • transparency

The Charter is used to improve the working relationship between managers and Trade Union’s and gives a framework to allow both sides to move forward and meet the challenges ahead together.
