Local licensing forums

Have your say on alcohol licensing in your area

Local licensing forums give you a voice on how alcohol licensing is managed in your area. They help shape local policies and discuss wider alcohol issues. They are not used to make complaints about individual premises.

We run a forum in each area:

  • Clydesdale
  • East Kilbride
  • Hamilton
  • Rutherglen and Cambuslang

Each forum meets at least four times a year and also meets with the Licensing Board.

Join a forum

We currently have spaces available in all areas. If you want to get involved and share your views, you can apply to join.

Email: locallicensingforum@southlanarkshire.gov.uk

Who can join

Forums include a mix of people from the community, such as:

  • local residents
  • young people
  • licence holders and staff
  • Police Scotland
  • people working in health, education or social work

Each forum also includes a Licensing Standards Officer.

Members work together to raise awareness of alcohol issues and suggest improvements. You do not represent your own organisation or personal views. Instead, you help reflect the wider community.

Meetings and access

All meetings are open to the public and the press, so you can attend and listen. Only forum members can vote on decisions.
