Savings 2016-17 Ranger Service review | South Lanarkshire Council
TitleSavings 2016-17 Ranger Service review
Council ResourceCommunity and Enterprise
Service AreaCommunity and Enterprise
Aims and ObjectivesTo identify and review existing tasks within Countryside and Greenspace to make best use of available resources with
minimum impact on the legislative and core requirements of the service or staff.
ConclusionGrounds Services is required to review the best use of available resources for 2016/17 and this identified services
which were either non essential or those which could be reduced with minimal impact on service users or staff. .

In terms of the Countryside and Greenspace Ranger Service, a reduction of 2 operatives from the original 10 was
identified as this had no major detrimental effect on the provision of service. No adverse impact has been identified in
relation to any of the specific equality groups as the team affected are of mixed gender and age profile.

The outcome of this review is that the reduction of staff will be managed through trade union negotiation and in line
with the Council's Collective Agreement to redeploy all displaced staff through the Council's Switch 2 programme or
through natural wastage such as retiral or backfilling of vacant positions. It is therefore considered that the impact of
this proposal will be mitigated as much as possible.
