CER09 - Financial Savings 2021-22 - Payments to Other Bodies

CER09 - Financial Savings 2021-22 - Payments to Other Bodies | South Lanarkshire Council
TitleCER09 - Financial Savings 2021-22 - Payments to Other Bodies
Council ResourceCommunity and Enterprise
Aims and ObjectivesAt present, all schools across South Lanarkshire have the ability to take part in Young Enterprise programmes, for example the Go4Set programme.

Young people interested in starting a business can also access support and advice via Princes Trust.

Through cessation of the Council's Young Enterprise programme and cessation of annual contributions made to the Princes Trust, a saving of £0.010m can be realised.

The funding is used to support entrepreneurship programmes for young aspiring business people.

Removing this funding will end a programme aimed at inspiring entrepreneurship for S4- S6 pupils and may have an impact on accessing the services provided by the Princes Trust.

However, the majority of schools undertake alternative in-house activity in relation to entrepreneurship and also participate in other similar external programmes, including Founders 4 Schools.

The Council will assist the Princes Trust to access funding through other external grants where available, and advice and guidance on business start up will still be provided where required.
ConclusionAt present, all schools across South Lanarkshire have the ability to take part in Young Enterprise programmes, for example the Go4Set programme, a number also participate in Princes Trust activities.

Discontinuing the annual contributions made to Young Enterprise and the Princes Trust could realise a saving of £0.010m. The funding is used to support entrepreneurship programmes for young aspiring business people. Removing this funding may have an impact on accessing the support and services that these organisation offer young people. However as the majority of schools undertake in-house activity in relation to entrepreneurship similar to the programmes offered through Young Enterprise and the Princes Trust and they also participate in other similar external programmes, including Founders 4 Schools the impact is likely to be minimal.

The Council will work with the organisations to replace the contributions with sponsorship funding or through other external grants available, and advice and guidance will still be provided where required.

The impact of this proposal will be monitored through existing service plans and performance monitoring processes.
