Weights and measures

We inspect, test and verify the weighing and measuring equipment used for trade. Trading Standards Officers visit premises to inspect and test the equipment, using calibrated UK standards.

Weighing and measuring fees

From 1 April 2025, we will charge £85.64 per hour for a weights and measures inspector, which includes the weights and measures verification service. If a particular piece of work requires the presence of support staff, then this will be charged at an additional £51.30 per hour.
