How we prepare for emergencies

Please note our emergency phone numbers are on the Contacting us pages. If there is an emergency such as bad weather or a large-scale incident we will update this website with news and use Twitter - you can follow us on the main Council account and the Roads account and contact us using @SouthLanCouncil and @SLCRoads. Normally these accounts are monitored during office hours but during an emergency there will be extra cover, depending on the nature and level of the incident.

The Council is not an emergency service like the Police or Fire Service but it is an emergency responder and we work on a day-to-day basis with emergency services including police, fire and the NHS to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our communities during emergencies.
