Family history and genealogy

Researching your family tree can be fascinating and thanks to TV programmes such as Who Do You Think You Are, more and more people are delving into the past.

There are many ways we can help you with your research such searching cemetery records with Bereavement Services, archive material and help with internet searches in our libraries, archive searches at our Records Centre and help with researching registers with the Registrars.

You can also obtain copies of birth, death and marriage certificates for any event registered in Scotland to help you start your family history research.

Are you looking for a gift with a difference? You can find out about family tree gift ideas by watching the family history Youtube video.
