Sharing your information with other organisations

The Lanarkshire Data Sharing Partnership includes NHS Lanarkshire, South and North Lanarkshire Councils - Social Work, Education and Housing, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration who are working together to make sure the services you receive are of good quality, effective and are delivered to meet your needs.

When people are working jointly to provide services for you they may need to share information about you.

Before information is shared we need your permission to do so. We will explain what this means before asking for your consent.

Once the practitioner has explained to you why we need to share information you will fill out a consent form. This records why information is being shared, what is being shared and with whom. This is signed by you and the practitioner will keep a copy.

However, please note, sometimes we have a duty to share information without getting consent, for example when it is a matter of protecting children or vulnerable adults or where there is a legal need to share information for the prevention, detection or prosecution of a crime.
