Asking us for information about the environment
Fees for information requests
We may charge a fee when you ask us for information. If a charge applies, we will tell you the cost before we process your request. You will need to pay the fee before we send the information.
How we calculate fees
We charge only what it costs us to provide the information. This may include:
- staff time, based on the hourly rate of the employee handling your request (no upper limit)
- photocopying fees as set down in our Publication Scheme
- 10p per A4 page (black and white)
- 30p per A4 page (colour)
When we do not charge
You will not be charged for:
- information held in statutory registers
- information you can view at our offices
- time spent checking if we hold the information or deciding if we can release it
- costs linked to meeting equalities duties under disability and other legislation
- cases where we decide to waive the fee, such as:
- there is a clear public interest
- it would cost more to collect the fee than the fee itself
- other relevant reasons make charging unfair
How to pay
If a fee applies, you can pay by:
- cheque or postal order (made payable to South Lanarkshire Council)
- debit or credit card by phone: 01698 453326
