Telecare

Telecare is a range of alarms and sensors that help keep you well and live safely in your own home. Telecare alarms and sensors can call for assistance if you need help. Your family and loved ones will know you are safe.

How could Telecare help you?

Dementia
My telecare supports me to be at home, that’s where I want to be. My family are a lot less worried about me.

Carer support
Since the telecare alarm has been installed, I can go out and get my shopping and I know my wife will be ok. It gives me great peace of mind!

Falls
I feel safe and secure living at home. I know if I fall, I can speak to someone to help me. I think it’s amazing.

How does Telecare work?

Telecare in your home works with an alert alarm or pager. When you press your alarm button or when a sensor activates, a signal is sent to our alarm receiving centre or a family member through a stand-alone pager. The telecare alarm is connected to our Alarm Receiving Centre. Staff are available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, to respond to alert calls. The call services assistant will speak to you and may call your family/carer for assistance or send a responder to help you

Bed and chair sensors
Sensors are fitted to your bed and/or chair. The sensor will let a carer or family member in your home know when you have got out of your bed or your chair.

Fall detector (on wrist)
If you have a heavy or dangerous fall, the fall detector will automatically connect to our Alarm Receiving Centre.

Heat sensor
When a heat sensor alert is triggered, it will automatically sound an alarm. It will then connect to our Alarm Receiving Centre who will phone 999 and call the Scottish Fire and Rescue service for help

Carbon monoxide sensor
When the sensor detects carbon monoxide within your home, an alert is triggered. It will automatically sound an alarm and connect to our Alarm Receiving Centre who will phone the National Gas Emergency Service and request help.

Door contact
Door contacts detect when a door in your home has been opened and lets your carer or family member know.

Pager
A pager lets a carer or family member in your home know when you need help. It will buzz and sound an alarm.

Motion sensor
Motion sensors detect when you are moving around your home and lets your carer or family member know that you are okay.

Telecare alarm
In an urgent situation you can press the button on the alarm and speak to one of the South Lanarkshire Council call services assistants 24 hours a day.

Smoke sensor
When smoke sensor alert is triggered, it will automatically sound an alarm. It will then connect to our Alarm Receiving Centre who will phone 999 and call the Scottish Fire and Rescue service for help.

Telecare pendant
You can wear the pendant around your wrist or neck. Pressing the button allows you to call for help 24 hours a day. You will speak to a South Lanarkshire Council call services assistant at our Alarm Receiving Centre.
