Early help means getting information and support before things become difficult. This can include:
- thinking about what matters most to you
- linking with services which can provide early support and advice
- accessing simple solutions like equipment or technology
- finding local support and community resources
Where to find early help
Locator is an online resource which can be used for searching a wide range of services and community resources available in your local area. You can search by town or area, and also what activities or supports you are interested in.
Sport and Leisure
There are a number of services offered by South Lanarkshire Council Leisure and Culture, including sports centres, libraries, parks and recreation facilities.
Equipment
AskSara is a simple online tool that can guide you toward practical equipment solutions for everyday challenges. It asks a few straightforward questions about your needs, your home, and any difficulties you’re facing, and then provides tailored suggestions that might be helpful.
It’s a quick and convenient way to explore what support or equipment might help - without needing an appointment or referral.

If you have tried early help and still need more support, you may be able to access Self‑directed Support.
Self‑directed Support gives you choice and control over how your care is arranged. It can include your own strengths, help from friends and family, community resources, equipment, and professional support.
