How to avoid getting a parking ticket

Parking attendants

We use parking attendants to help keep roads and car parks safe and fair. They can issue parking tickets if a vehicle is parked where it should not be.

Where tickets can be issued

Attendants can give a ticket if you park:

  • on yellow lines
  • in pedestrian areas
  • in residents’ parking without a permit
  • in a disabled bay without a badge
  • in a car park without a valid pay and display ticket

Obstructive parking

Parking attendants cannot deal with obstructive or inconsiderate parking where there are no yellow lines. This is a police matter.

To report this, contact Police Scotland on 101 for non emergency advice, or visit their contact page.
