Caravan site licence
How to apply for a caravan site licence
You can download a licence application for either a residential or holiday/tourer site and send it to Environmental Services.
Permanent residential site licence
For sites where people live all year round.
Holiday or tourer site licence
For sites used for short stays or holidays.
If you run a mixed site, you should apply for a residential licence and tell us that you also operate a holiday or tourer site.
What you need to apply
When you apply, you must send:
- a site plan of appropriate size and detail showing the layout of roads, caravans, facilities and site boundaries
- up-to-date electrical and gas safety certificates
- maintenance details for any private water supply
Send your completed form and documents to Environmental Services.
Fees and licence length
- holiday or tourer licences do not have an application fee and are permanent
- residential licences cost £1,039.48 for new applications and must be renewed every five years
- there is no fee to transfer a licence, but renewal fees will apply
Your licence will end if your planning permission expires.
If the land is sold, the licence will only pass to the new owner if the previous owner applies to the council for consent. Contact us for more information.
How we assess your application
On receiving your application, we will check that it contains all of the requested information, including the site plan and, where relevant, the appropriate licence fee. Should further information be required, we will ask you to provide this.
We will make a decision on your application no later than 3 months after we have received all of the required information, together with the relevant fee where appropriate.
Can anyone object?
No, there is no process for objections as part of a caravan site licence application.
However, people can submit comments or objections when you apply for planning permission.
