Cooling towers and evaporative condensers
Registering a cooling tower or evaporative condenser
If your workplace uses a cooling tower or evaporative condenser, you must register it with us under the Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992. These systems are typically used for air conditioning or cooling industrial processes.
For further information, or to view the public register, contact Environmental Services.
How to apply
- Complete the Cooling towers/evaporative condensers form
- Return the form to: Planning and Regulatory Services, First Floor. Brandon Gate, 1 Leechlee Road, Hamilton, ML3 0XB
What happens next
We use your application to add your system to the public register. You may also need planning permission or a building warrant, so it’s worth checking with Planning and Building Standards before installation.
We must process your application before it can be approved, so tacit consent does not apply. If you haven’t heard from us within 28 days, contact Environmental Services for an update.
