Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA) is an Act of the Scottish Parliament which gives everyone the right to ask for any information held by a Scottish public authority. In September 2013 the Scottish Government extended FOISA to include recreational, sporting, cultural or social bodies established and financed, wholly or in part, by Scottish local authorities. Consequently, from April 2014 South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture (SLLC) became subject to FOISA legislation.

The aim of the Act is to increase openness and transparency by allowing people to access information about how decisions are taken and how public services are delivered. From April 2014 any person who makes a request to South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture for information must be provided with it, subject to certain conditions.

Under the Act, South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture is obliged to maintain a Publication Scheme which describes the classes of information which it publishes or intends to publish (usually on our website), how it does so, and any fees associated with these publications. If you cannot find the information you need, you can contact our FOI Coordinator directly to request the information. Requests for information must be made in writing, or in a permanent form such as email, video or audio tape. You can contact us using the address details, or use the online application form. Application forms are also available at receptions in SLLC leisure centres, libraries, and cultural venues.

The Scheme is available in portable document format. To view this document you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. This Reader can be freely downloaded from the Adobe web site.
