If you are a new or existing owner or tenant, you can tell us

If you are moving into an existing household, for example, moving in with your partner, family or friends, they should complete our change to household form

Council tenants must also notify their local Housing office of any changes to their household. Further information is available on our Changing your tenancy pages.

If someone in the household has died

Council Tax liability for Houses in Multiple Occupancy (HMO)

Owners of a House in Multiple Occupancy (HMO) are legally liable for payment of the Council Tax, not the tenants. This is regardless of any provision which might be included in the lease about Council Tax payment. Further information is available on our Council Tax and Houses in Multiple Occupancy (HMO) page.

Change of circumstances - Housing Benefit or Council Tax Reduction

If you claim Housing Benefit or Council Tax Reduction, you will need to let us know about any changes to your household, so that we can review your entitlement and make sure you are receiving the correct benefit.

Provide evidence

If you have been asked to provide evidence to support a change to your household or a change of address, please see our Council Tax evidence page.
