Community wardens

Community Warden Service

Our community wardens help keep South Lanarkshire safe. They work in local neighbourhoods at the times when anti‑social behaviour is most likely to happen, offering support, gathering information and providing a visible presence. You can speak to a warden at any time if you have concerns.

What our wardens do

Wardens work across South Lanarkshire in partnership with Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, local housing teams and our anti‑social investigation team. We work together so you get the right help quickly.

Our wardens:

  • act as the eyes and ears of your community
  • engage with residents and local businesses
  • use CCTV vehicles to patrol known hot spots and report issues
  • carry out enquiries into low‑level anti‑social behaviour
  • complete foot patrols in areas where problems have been reported
  • support people enjoying nights out in our town centres
  • reassure residents with visible patrols in housing areas

Wardens work a range of shifts between 10am and 3am so we can be available when you need us most.

How wardens help

We gather information and evidence to support action against anti‑social behaviour. Our presence also helps deter problems before they start.

Wardens can also contact the right team for you if you are unsure who to speak to. We want you to feel comfortable approaching us with any issue, no matter how small.

Speak to us

If something is causing concern in your area, please speak to a community warden when you see them on patrol. You can also report issues online or get support from our community safety teams.
