Anti-social behaviour
Anti-social behaviour is any behaviour that causes alarm or distress. If something is disrupting your peace or making you feel unsafe, please tell us. We have several teams who can investigate problems, offer support and take action when needed.
Who can help
Anti-social investigation team
Our anti-social investigation team deals with serious cases across South Lanarkshire. They speak to everyone involved, gather evidence and use legal powers when required. This service is open to all residents.
If you rent from a housing association, contact your landlord first.
Local housing offices
Your local housing offices can give advice, take complaints and investigate issues. They will explain what happens next and what action they can take.
Community Wardens
Community Wardens work in neighbourhoods across South Lanarkshire. They patrol hot spots, offer reassurance and gather information. You can speak to a warden at any time if you are concerned about anti-social behaviour. Further information on our Community Warden service can be found on our website.
Mediation Service
Our mediation service is free and confidential. Trained mediators help neighbours or families resolve disputes before they become more serious. Further information on our Mediation Service can be found on our website.
Environmental Services
The Environmental Services team can respond to complaints of noise, fly-tipping and abandoned vehicles. Further information on our Environmental Services is available on our website.
Joint problem solving groups
As it is not solely a responsibility for one agency working alone, we work with our partners to achieve better and longer lasting solutions to anti-social behaviour problems in our communities. In partnership with Police Scotland and Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, these groups continually review issues and identify trends of anti-social behaviour.
More information on how the council and its community safety partners tackle anti-social behaviour can be found in our latest Annual Report
