Procurement and the council
How to find contract opportunities
We advertise all our goods, works and services contracts online. We do not maintain an approved list of suppliers, meaning all businesses have an equal opportunity to bid for our work.
To view current tenders, upcoming opportunities and historic awards, search for the South Lanarkshire Council buyer profile on Public Contracts Scotland (PCS).
You can:
- search for current opportunities
- submit bids for work
- set up alerts for new contracts
Getting started
To bid for contracts, register on both:
- Public Contracts Scotland (PCS)
- Public Contracts Scotland Tender (PCS-T)
How we award contracts
We route our contract opportunities through different procurement pathways depending on the total contract value and type of service.
Standard procurement thresholds
- PCS Quick Quote for lower-value contracts and works contracts up to £2m
- PSC-T for most contracts valued over £50,000
Fixed procurement routes
Dynamic Purchasing Systems (DPS) - portals that remain open for new suppliers to join at any time. There are no fixed closing dates after the initial setup, and individual contracts are awarded via mini competitions.
Procured Services Arrangements (PSA) - flexible systems used primarily for social, healthcare and other specific services. New suppliers can be added in phases during the arrangement, and you can reapply if a previous application was unsuccessful.
Forward planning and transparency
We publish clear data to help businesses plan and view historical contract data.
Two-Year procurement plan - details all upcoming tender opportunities over £50,000. This is published annually within our Procurement report.
Contracts Register - details all previously awarded contracts, framework agreements, PSAs and Dynamic Purchasing Systems.
What to do next:
- download the contracts register to view current contracts
- visit Public Contracts Scotland to look for opportunities
- register on on both the PCS and PCS-T portals
- follow the South Lanarkshire buyer profile on PCS
- set up alerts for contract notices that match your business services
- review deadlines carefully before starting an application, as late bids are never accepted
