Council Plan 2022-2027
Our Council Plan, Connect, covers the period from April 2022 to March 2027. To help us write the Plan, in 2021, over 3,300 people answered our survey about ‘what matters to you’, and we had conversations with 27 different groups to find out more. Information from many other sources, including local community plans, face-to-face discussions, online feedback, feedback from Community Groups, Community events and surveys, was also gathered to help us understand what mattered most to the people of South Lanarkshire.
This wealth of information has been invaluable in helping shape our Council Plan, which we have written around our vision, which is to improve the lives and prospects of everyone in South Lanarkshire. South Lanarkshire Council provides services for everyone in South Lanarkshire, and our Council Plan sets out our vision and what we want to achieve over the next 5 years.
In 2024, with the Council Plan approaching the middle of its five-year term, a mid-term review was undertaken to health-check the existing priorities and measures of success in light of the changing internal and external pressures impacting on the council.
The mid-term review re-affirmed the council’s commitment to its vision and values. In view of current and future challenges, the priorities of the Plan were revised to acknowledge three themes:
- the financial challenges facing local government;
- messages around transformation and service redesign;
- tackling poverty and prevention as an overarching consideration in the work of the council – fairness and the need to support the most vulnerable
The revised Council Plan following the mid-term review was approved by the council’s Executive Committee on 30 April 2025.
Performance against the actions, targets and projects in the Council Plan is monitored, reported and scrutinised by Committees throughout the year; at the end of Quarter 2 (September) and Quarter 4 (March - year end).
