Child friendly complaints
Making a complaint as a child or young person
We make sure children and young people can raise concerns in a way that feels safe, simple and fair. A child is anyone under 18. You can make a complaint yourself, or an adult can do it for you.
We follow national guidance from the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman. This helps us make the process clear, supportive and easy to understand. Our aim is to listen, respond and explain what happens next in a way that works for you.
Who can make a complaint
A complaint can be:
- made directly by a child or young person
- made by a parent, carer or another adult
- about something that affects a child or young person
We will always take your concern seriously.
How we support children and young people
We make the process as simple and comfortable as possible. We will:
- listen to your views and let you share them in a way that suits you
- explain what is happening using clear, simple language
- keep a record of your complaint and what we do
- give feedback so you understand the outcome
If you need help, we can support you or work with someone you trust.
Our approach
We follow recognised standards that support children’s rights and wellbeing. This includes making sure:
- your voice is heard
- you are treated fairly
- you understand what is happening
