Ever wondered how classical music works? Presenter Gillian Moore, violinist Maya Iwabuchi and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra come together to lift the lid and talk you through it. There’s a special appearance from conductor and composer Samy Moussa and a full performance of the lively First Symphony by Felix Mendelssohn, a German composer who fell in love with Scotland. Novice, fan, or just classical-curious: everyone is welcome.

Bring Me to Life exhibition is back for a second year running at East Kilbride Arts Centre.

Keeping the theme of bringing art to life using recycled materials and found goods to create life size sculptures, Alice in Wonderland and friends will be on display alongside a new underwater theme section to the exhibition.

South Lanarkshire born and raised artist Michelle Keenan continues to involve the local community in collecting recycled materials and found goods that go into the heart of each Sculpture.  Michelle has also involved up and coming young artists to participate and the exhibition by providing a drawing or painting to be displayed, this will be transformed and brought to life by Michelle in the form of a lifelike sculpture.

Michelle provides interactive, thought-provoking art that captures the viewers’ attention as well as making an impact on recycling within the arts.

Alive in Wonderland Outdoor Exhibitions

 

Alive in Wonderland the Parkland edition is a special event taking place on the grounds of the Arts Centre for a limited time only. A fun-filled family outdoor event guaranteed to ensure a magical experience for all.

Enter at twilight, take a stroll with a special guide, be mesmerised in the fairy Grove, and explore the wonders of light in this art installation that the whole family can enjoy. There may be a few surprises in store along the way, so be sure to collect your tinfoil hat for protection against those unexpected sightings, cameras at the ready!

Ticket entry will include access within an allocated time slot to the Gallery exhibition and the walled garden installation as well as the main event. This showcases the South Lanarkshire born artist Michelle Keenan who specialises in using recycled materials and found objects to create sustainable lifelike sculptures. Engagement with the local community in collecting and donating materials enables Michelle to create her upcycled creations.

As well as making an impact on recycling within the arts, Michelle takes her art to another level not just with her sculptures but by utilising the environment in which the artwork appears to create fantastical atmospheric displays. The installation is immersive and the art on show provides a unique and unforgettable experience for everyone young and old.
