South Lanarkshire "Warm Welcome"
South Lanarkshire Council (SLC) and South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture (SLLC) are looking to work with local communities and voluntary groups and organisations to take forward a “Warm Welcome” initiative.
This will be a network of warm spaces in community settings and public buildings where members of the public are welcomed and can participate in activities and groups and access advice and support.
This initiative, commencing from 31 October 2022, will include making our libraries, halls, community centres and schools available throughout the winter, offering places for people to go.
In order to offer as many options to access a “Warm Welcome” as possible, we are asking our community groups who have bookings across our halls, centres and schools to open their doors and invite their wider community neighbours in to join them.
If you, as an existing community customer, would be willing to open your doors and welcome other members of the community to join your group with no charges being applied to them, SLLC would in turn be prepared to waive your accommodation charges until 31 March 2023.
We are also putting a call out to any Community Groups and Organisations who would be interested in setting up and delivering a Warm Welcome group in our buildings that are already open and have available space.
If you would like to be part of this initiative, or find out more about “Warm Welcome”, please complete the Warm Welcome enquiry form and return it to: warmwelcome@southlanarkshireleisure.co.uk.
Anyone who is looking for a Warm Welcome can find local venues by using a new interactive map and postcode checker. As well as showing where a Warm Welcome is being offered, the website will show who is running the venue or event, what the opening hours are, whether or not booking is required, and information on what activities and facilities are available.
