Following a 2024 Spring and Autumn sell-out run across Scotland, including a sell-out show at Lanark Memorial Hall and two sell-out shows at The Pavilion Theatre in March 2025, The Kingsman Travelling Theatre Company is absolutely delighted to be returning to South Lanarkshire in 2025 with Up A Close: Joanna's story.  

Up A Close is the story of Joanna, looking back on her life in her Partick tenement flat, when her husband doesn't come home one night, she reminisces on her marriage, her children, the wonderful times she had growing up in the mid 70s with her mum, dad and her auntie Sandra. Her best friend Anne Marie, the nuns and dancing up the toon to the Bay City Rollers. The audience will laugh and cry and identify themselves in this brilliantly written and acted play of tough love and hope and laughter, full of nostalgia, poignancy and fun and Pure Glasgow banter.

The Vintage Explosion

The Vintage Explosion burst on to the scene in Nov 2022 when a video of them performing Sam Cooke's 'A Change is Gonna Come' went viral on TikTok and Facebook. Since then they have achieved four No.1 Albums on iTunes' Worldwide Blues Chart as well as reaching the top ten on the US Billboard Blues Charts. The band made their first television appearance in March when they were specially invited to perform at the BBC Big Birthday Bash as the house band; quickly followed by an exclusive performance on ITV's This Morning. They sold out a 14 date UK and Ireland tour in 2024. 

Their explosive live show has already progressed to theatre stages with sell out shows at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Usher Hall, Edinburgh. As well as collecting many new fans along the way, they are also making an impression with music legends: 

Sir Rod Stewart recently stated 'This guy....The Vintage Explosion, is the best white soul singer I've ever heard'.
