Snow and ice can cause many problems, like frozen or burst pipes, transport delays, and health risks like hypothermia. When the snow melts, it can also lead to flooding.
During Storms and winds, buildings can be damaged; falling trees and loose debris can cause danger to passers-by, and damage or blocking of key routes can impact travel. Find out what to do before, during and after a storm or high winds.
Rain and flooding are regular occurrences in Scotland and can happen at any time of the year, but they worsen in winter. Find out the steps you can take to be prepared and to help reduce the damage and disruption it can have on your home, travel and work.
Power cuts and loss of utilities can happen at any time and with little warning. Be prepared for a loss of supply and what you can do if it happens.
