Crisis and community care grants

Request a review

First (initial) review

If you do not agree with the decision on your crisis grant or community care grant application, you can ask us to look at it again.

What you need to know

  • You must ask for a review within 20 working days of the date on your decision letter
  • Your review will be carried out by a different decision maker from the Scottish Welfare Fund team
  • We aim to tell you the result:
    • Within 2 working days for crisis grants
    • Within 15 working days for community care grants

What to include in your review request

When you ask for a review, please include:

  • the date and reference number from your decision or award letter
  • a clear list of the items you want us to review
  • an explanation of why you think the decision is wrong
  • any additional information or evidence you believe could change the decision
  • details of any changes in your circumstances since you applied, if these might affect the outcome

Independent second review

If you still do not agree with the decision after the first review, you can ask for an independent review from the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO).

Ask for an SPSO independent review

Important:

  • you must contact the SPSO within one month of receiving our review decision.
  • the SPSO is independent and not part of the council.
