Housing benefit and Council Tax Reduction application

The Online Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction calculator is a useful way to find out if you might qualify for Housing Benefit/Council Tax Reduction.

However the calculation is only an estimate based on the information you supply. For a full assessment you will need to make a formal claim as soon as possible.

If you want to apply for Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Reduction you can complete our online application form. If you have already applied online and need to upload further evidence, please use our online submission of evidence form. Please also note that you are unable to submit evidence of identity - we must see your original documents. 

If you are working you will be asked to supply payslips. If you do not have any payslips, please ask your employer to complete a certificate of earnings form and return it to us at the address shown on the form. The completed form can also be submitted electronically via our online submission of evidence form.

If you are self employed you will also be required to fill in the Self employed earnings information form - this form has to be printed off or you can contact the Benefits and Council Tax call centre and they will arrange to post one out to you.
