Social Work Resources

The Resource Management Team

How health and social care services are managed

We have clear arrangements in place to make sure health and social care services are well managed, joined up and accountable. Different meetings and committees help leaders make decisions, solve problems and improve services for local people.

The most important decisions about how services run are discussed each week by senior managers. Elected councillors also have a role in overseeing plans and approving key actions, so services remain focused on the needs of our communities.

Weekly leadership meetings

Our Heads of Service meet every week with the Executive Director. They discuss current issues, service pressures and improvement work. This helps us act quickly when something needs attention.

The Chair of the Resource, Councillor Margaret Walker, meets regularly with the Executive Director. This ensures the Chair is kept informed about how services are developing and any major concerns.

Health and Care Management Team

We also run a Health and Care Management Team meeting every four weeks. This includes managers from both the council and health services. The group focuses on joint working and shared priorities, helping health and social care teams work better together.

Councillor oversight

Elected councillors review and approve key decisions through the Social Work Resources Committee. This committee meets four times a year and considers reports on service performance, spending and plans.

The committee includes 26 councillors and is chaired by Councillor Margaret Walker, with Councillor Kirsty Williams as Depute Chair.
