We look after a wide range of records from local businesses, community groups and individuals across South Lanarkshire. These collections can help you research family history, local industries, community activities or how your area has changed over time. You can view these records by booking an appointment at the Archives and Records Centre.

Business records

We hold several collections from long established local businesses, including:

  • Lawrie and Symington, Agricultural Auctioneers, Lanark from 1876 to 1979
  • Keith and Patrick, Solicitors, Hamilton from 1548 to 1940
  • George Taylor and Co (Hamilton) Ltd, brass founders and engineers from 1924 to 1960
  • William Wallace Papers, funeral directors and carriage hire, with family papers from 1912 to 1958
