Bonfires and fireworks

Complaining about fireworks

If you’re worried about fireworks being used or sold in your area, there are a few ways you can report your concerns and get support.

Report unsafe sales

If you see a shop selling fireworks and think they may be breaking safety or licensing rules, contact our Consumer and Trading Standards team. We will look into the issue and take action if needed.

Report noise from neighbours

Fireworks set off late at night can be upsetting and disruptive. If noise from neighbours is affecting you, you can report it using our online form on the Noise from neighbours page. We will review your complaint and advise on next steps.

Public firework displays

Events with a public audience must have a public entertainment licence, even if tickets are free. If you want to be notified about licences issued in your area, you can email us at licensing@southlanarkshire.gov.uk to register your interest.

Help for pets

Fireworks can be stressful for animals, especially dogs. You can find practical advice on helping your pet cope on the Dogs Trust website.
