Sports development
In leisure centres and schools across South Lanarkshire, major programmes are underway to develop participation in a wide range of sports. As well as our Development Team of professional sports development officers and coaches, hundreds of volunteers are involved in local sports councils and activity programmes, encouraging and developing our sporting talent.
Sports Development work closely with National Governing Bodies for sport as well as local sports clubs to give young people a 'pathway' to continue their participation in sport throughout their life.

Club SL
Club SL, South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture’s Club Accreditation Scheme, is aimed at developing and supporting local sports clubs and their volunteers.

Our Netball development unit supports local netball clubs through its schools programme, netball coach development programme and the South Lanarkshire Netball team.

The Rugby development programme aims to promote and develop rugby throughout the region (Clydesdale, East Kilbride, Hamilton, Rutherglen, Cambuslang).
