Housing benefit processing performance
Our performance in processing housing benefit and council tax reduction is reviewed regularly by the Department of Work and Pensions, the Scottish Government and Audit Scotland. We are measured in the following:

In 2013/2014, our processing times were 21 days for new claims and 7 days for change of circumstances. This was an improvement in comparison to 2012/2013, where we processed new claims in 31 days and changes in 11 days. Our targets for 2014/2015 are 21 days for new claims and 11 days for changes.
Our performance in processing speed compares favourably to the 2013/2014 Scottish average of 26 days for new claims and 9 days for changes. Information on national performance for speed of processing is available on the UK Government web page, Housing Benefit: statistics on speed of processing.
The cost of processing housing benefit and council tax reduction per claim in 2013/2014 was £31.83 - a reduction of 4% compared to £33.12 in 2012/2013. Our target for 2014/2015 is £34 per claim.
Our accuracy in processing claims for housing benefit and council tax reduction was 90% in 2013/2014 with a target of 92% for 2014/2015.
