Tall Wind Turbines consultation

The Landscape Capacity Study for Wind Energy was one of the documents we consulted on as part of the Renewable Energy Supplementary Guidance in September/October 2015.  The Landscape Capacity Study for Wind Energy was then finalised and approved in February 2016.

In order to assess the impact of the increasing size of commercial wind turbines now being proposed we have updated the 2016 Landscape Capacity Study.  The update takes account of the impacts of taller wind turbines which are 150 metres to 200 metres in height, and provides relevant siting and design guidance for these turbines.  This information is set out in the draft of a new document - Tall Wind Turbines: Landscape Capacity, Siting and Design Guidance; which could be added into to the Landscape Capacity Study previously approved in 2016.

We are seeking views on this draft document.  These should be submitted to us by Friday 17 November 2017.

You can give your views by email to localplan@southlanarkshire.gov.uk or by post to Headquarters Manager, Planning and Building Standards, Montrose House, 154 Montrose Crescent, Hamilton ML3 6LB.
