Apply for or renew Blue Badge

If you live in South Lanarkshire, you can apply for a Blue Badge or renew an existing one.

You should apply if you meet the eligibility criteria and:

you are applying for a Blue Badge for the first time
your current badge has expired or will expire within the next 12 weeks

Risk in Traffic

If you are applying for someone who has a mental condition that affects their awareness of traffic and puts them or others at risk, you cannot complete the form online. Instead, you should request a Risk in Traffic application using our Blue Badge enquiry form.

Be aware of unofficial websites

Some websites charge a fee to help with Blue Badge applications. These are not connected to the official Blue Badge service. If you have been affected by this, you can contact Citizens Advice Scotland.

Timescales

Once we receive your application and check your documents, the usual timescales are:

automatic application (criteria met) - six weeks
further assessment required (criteria not met) - six to eight weeks
Risk in Traffic application - six to eight weeks

Cost of a Blue Badge

A Blue Badge costs £20. You only pay once your application has been approved.

You can only use the evidence form if:

you’ve been asked by our Blue Badge team to send evidence
you need to send evidence for something else - for example, a change of name or address
