Roads in winter

High winds and fallen trees

High winds can cause branches or whole trees to fall, which may block roads or create hazards.

If you see a tree blocking a road, contact us straight away so we can arrange for it to be safely removed.

Report a fallen tree

Call us to report a tree blocking a road or creating a safety risk:

  • 0303 123 1020 (Monday to Thursday, 8.45am to 4.45pm, Friday until 4.15pm)
  • 0800 24 20 24 (outwith office hours)

We will assess the situation and remove the tree as needed. This may involve cutting it into smaller sections before clearing it.

Stay safe in high winds

High winds can also blow debris onto roads. Take extra care when travelling by:

  • reducing your speed
  • watching for fallen branches or debris
  • allowing more time for your journey
