Adult and baby

Adult and baby swimming lessons at South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture

For children aged 0 - 12 months.

Although it is safe to take children under 4 months to the pool we recommend waiting till they are this age to start. As the classes are 30 minutes long children under 4 months may find this length of time too long to be in the pool.

Objectives

  • The adult will have the range of skills and knowledge necessary to handle their baby confidently and safely in the water
  • The ‘quality time’ aspect will be a key element of the adult and baby aquatic experience
  • Adult and baby will have experienced basic body positions and a range of movements in water
  • Adult and baby will have developed water confidence and enjoyment in the aquatic environment

Exit Criteria

1. Demonstrate safe entries and exits

2. Demonstrate three progressive supports/holds – prone position

3. Demonstrate three progressive supports/holds – supine position
