Oracle Fusion

Guidance on annual leave

Annual Leave

You can use Oracle Fusion to view your annual leave balance and request time off.

Annual leave and public holidays

Fusion works out your leave entitlement automatically based on your job, hours and length of service. It also includes your public holiday entitlement in your overall leave balance.

  • if you receive fixed public holidays, you must request these at the start of January, so they appear correctly in your calendar
  • if a public holiday falls on a day that you do not work, you do not need to request it
  • if you receive floating public holidays in your entitlement, you can take these at any point during the leave year

Employees with multiple assignments

If you hold more than one post, Fusion allocates you a separate leave balance for each one. You must submit leave requests for each post individually. Each request will then go to the correct line manager for approval.

Carrying over leave

Any unused leave from the previous year moves automatically into your balance on 1 January. If you do not use this carried‑over leave by 1 February, it will be removed.

Automated approach to changes that affect annual leave

Fusion updates leave balances automatically when:

  • you start a new job therefore; there is no requirement for managers to assign an annual leave entitlement
  • your contract or hours change during the year

Leavers

If you are leaving your job, you must use your pro‑rata leave entitlement before your final day. Oracle Fusion does not update your leave balances on submission of your resignation, so managers must calculate your remaining leave using the annual leave calculator on the intranet and ensure only the appropriate amount of leave is taken.

Updating annual leave balances

Managers can adjust leave balances manually when needed, for example on an employee’s return from maternity leave.
