Robyn’s story

My name is Robyn. I am currently in my sixth year at high school.

I have grown up with my brother, Blair, who suffers from epilepsy, physical disabilities and is mentally immature.

This has made me feel low at times and the responsibility, which has fallen to me of taking care of him and protecting him, has made me feel extremely insecure at times. Blair has been this way since he was born. As he grew older he became stronger and more aggressive due to his epilepsy. I found this hard to cope with as I was unsure of how he felt towards me. Throughout my younger years I would have benefited from the kind of support that is in this pack in so many ways – especially the fact that I should have known I was not alone. I am so glad that I was approached and asked to be part of this project.

Being able to speak to the other girls about my problems and relate to them has helped me a lot. I am glad I am adding diversity to this pack and I know it will be a useful resource.
