How can we help?
We aim to provide good quality housing services at all times. Due to the impact of the ongoing Coronavirus, we are prioritising our resources to support our critical front line services including individuals affected by homelessness and our tenants living in sheltered housing.
Our housing support service will continue to be delivered, where possible, face to face meetings will revert to telephone conversations.
If you are homeless please contact us to discuss your needs.
If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness you can speak to someone in confidence at any of our local housing offices during office hours.
If you need somewhere to stay and our offices are closed, you can phone the emergency freephone number shown.
When you contact us, we will:
- complete an initial housing enquiry, this can be over the phone or in person at a local housing office
- offer you a private interview with a trained housing officer
- offer to interview you at home or by phone if you cannot come into the office due to health or mobility issues
- offer you temporary accommodation if you need it
If you are threatened with homelessness, we will try to prevent you losing your home where possible.
If you have nowhere to stay, we will try to offer you an interview on the same day you contact us. If we can’t, we will offer you temporary accommodation and arrange an interview for the next working day. We will always offer you an interview within three days.
In addition to this, the council can also help you to find somewhere to store your belongings if you are unable to store them yourself or there isn’t sufficient space within the temporary accommodation offered.
